Cigarette lighter socket

I want to remove the cigarette or 12 volt lighter socket to accesses the wires what's the best way to do this? Thanks

You need to remove the entire centre console.

Sorry to jump in - is there an easier 12v source somewhere. I'd like to permanently wire my camera instead of having it plugged in socket.

This is why I was asking I want to do the same. I have the 12v to 5v lead http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-USB-Car ... 1323967248 just need a 12v source but I only want power when ignition is on.

There must be something we can use behind the dash or kick panels somewhere..........

Where's the fuses on these?

So we must be able to find something in there to come off of I reckon.

Ok. Just taken a quick look at the fuses and this will be dooable with an "add a circuit" from ebay. Finding an earth looks tricky though...........

You can earth to anywhere on the chassis providing its got a nut thats got exposed metal beneath

Theres plenty of earthing points all over the car

Yep. None in drivers footwell area though (that I could see anyway).

Normally one to the right hand side of the fusebox near the bonnet pull
