The golf mk7 fully populated one works perfectly.

Do you know how the GTI stereo is arranged then? I thought the Composition Media was just a head unit and the amplifier was in the glovebox, or have I got this wrong? I'd be interested in this same mod if you can get it to work as a plug and play retrofit

I think the screen in the dash is fairly dumb and its all processed in the Unit in the glove box.

I'll have a look at the mk7 golf harness and butcher that if it works.

Basically the heady it in the traditional sense, with the quad lock and antenna connectors is in the glovebox. To get to it you need to remove the glove box. The screen is 100% dumb and simply has connections to allow the heady it to communicate with it.

i think i'm going to give the audi harness a try as it and the golf one's are 52 way populated but the audi one is 10 quid cheaper for some reason (that must be the vw tax lol)

just waiting for my ktp-445u to arrive now

As long as it's 52 populated you will be fine. MIB uses every pin

Did you install this amplifier in the end, and did it make any difference if you did?

no i haven't had chance to install it yet but have made the unit up ready

i'm still looking for a +12v that is made live by the head unit and also the time to properly do it

Ah OK. I thought that the harness brought the 12V through and it was just plug and play? I'm really only interested in this if I don't need to go cutting anything.

Hope you get some time to sort this soon - I really need to find some way of making the stereo acceptable. If the amp beefs the current delivery up reasonably then it'd be that plus probably Focal speakers all round.

PS - Good job you got your speeding out of the way now. Have you seen the size of the fines coming out in April! Sounds like you'd be looking at 150% of your weekly income...

i've done it so that you need a +12v from the fuse box using an add a fuse thing

then it needs a switched +12v to switch on but being as the head unit is able to come on without ignition then it needs to be tied to the head unit

all cutting and everything will be done on the amp or T harness and leave the car completely reversible back to factory

That's good to know. Hurry up and get it fitted! :D

PS Are you sure the head unit can be turned on without the ignition being on i.e. the key in the ignition?
