Ok, I have mentioned this before and I'm sure it's going to become more of an issue when winter comes.

Was out fairly late last night and probably the longest run in the polo in the dark. The reflection of the light button in the driver's door mirror(on the glass) is not only an inconvenience but also dangerous IMO as I can't see properly in that mirror.

Does anyone else suffer with this ? I can't see that my seating position would change it and wonder if anyone has come up with a solution?

Funny you should post this up, I was wondering what to do about it yesterday!

I agree it's dangerous, you cannot use the drivers mirror at all due to the reflection. I was thinking tinted film to darken the bulb on the lights switch but it will look naf.

Alternatively would it be possible to take out the bulb that illuminates the light switch easily?

Not sure if it is just one bulb? This could be the way forward though.

I did wonder about some sort of shield but that would be more difficult I would think.

How does the switch come out, do we know?

to disable the lighting, disconnect the blue-grey wire from the switch

Will that just stop the switch lighting up?

Do you know how to access that wire?

1. Pull off the cover of the door handle (with a not-sharp object like a blunt knife), starting at the bottom of the L.
Then simply pull the entire cover off.
The door mirror switch will stay in the cover.

2. Disconnect switch from the cover (clipped in)

3. Disconnect the wire connector

4. Find the illumination wire

5. Take out the illumination wire (usually hold by a little sprint)

6. Isololate wire

7. Re-connect switch, test whether button lighting is indeed off

8. If so, re-mount all and be happy

Can you confirm what "pull off the cover of the door handle" means please.

go to your car, sit in your car (driver seat), pull the door close. pause halfway, don't remove your hand. now look where your hand is placed. right hand, assuming we're in england (where you drive on the wrong side of the road )

this is the door handle and it's made of two parts. one part is fixed to the door trim and doesn't come off, the other side can be pulled off. look for the line where they joint. it's easy to find

How does this help access the light switch that is on the dash?

I've never noticed any reflection problems or of the sorts. Pics will be greatly appreciated cause now I'm curious!
