Is it possible to switch climatronic?

Hello,
I have manual air conditioning. It is possible to switch it to semi-automatic 'Climatic' or automatic Climatronic?

yes technically it is, but prepare for about GBP1000 of costs for all new material and about 10 hours of work.

I asked my Ford dealer to do this on my Transit Custom van. Total cost was about £600 and, to be perfectly honest, it wasn't worth it.

I tend to specify Climatronic etc mainly for the reason that its controller can diagnose faults easier than the basic system, though, the basic system is probably less likely to fail! (flap motor issues and locations on RHD cars are a bit of a problem on all VAG marques and models)
