2006 Gti 1.8t

Ok some helpful advice is required

Faults

Press the brake pedal and the drivers side light comes on( lights off position just like parking light is on but only when pedal is pressed)

All Lights on position faults... rear led brake light strip is illuminated and the brake lights and eventually the epc light comes on..

When driving it randomly cuts the power like it thinks you are braking

A couple of times switched the engine off and it continues to run for a few seconds( only with the lights on position..

Ok....what I have done so far
Had plugged in with a snap on diagnostic machine

Brake switch .... So changed the brake switch still the same random faults

Checked all bulbs etc all working fine

A mate had a quick look and he recommended getting it plugged into vag. Com he thinks it could be a control unit fault or something like that ...

Now at the point of taking it to the main stealers but thought I would ask for advice on this issue before I give them the pleasure of raping my bank account..

I'm in the Edinburgh area and would exchange beer tokens to get this problem fixed

Cheers .... Jim...

Sounds like a bad earth or an incorrect bulb like a 3 pin instead of a 2 pin been fitted which is causing an earth loop

Have you had both rear lights and checked the bulb holders over?

Been out last night and tonight.. Trying to get it to play up ... No joy !!

When I eventually do get it to play up I will try unplugging each light cluster to see if i can narrow down the fault to a specific light cluster...

Grrrrrrr...
