Anyone else discovering their touch screen radio doesn't like cold mornings...

Every day this week it's frozen, and refused to respond

Waiting for VW to give me a call back...

So quick update after a phone call from VW

Apparently there will be a fix released some time in November and it's also affecting the service managers Golf GTI as well

Will let you know when I have more info

Is this model or temperature specific? I've not had it yet but only seen temp drop to 5C once so far down here near London

Seems to be model related as both mine and the dealers was the Compsition Media 2 system without Nav.
It's an odd one as it's fine once it's warmed up a bit lowest temp so far in the middle of Worcestershire has been 2.0c My Uncle has the Passat and the Discovery version with the nav will see if his suffers similar issues.

Interesting, I've got the Discover Nav as well on mine. Let's see what happens when the temperature starts dropping below 5C

I've not noticed this yet but it's not been that cold yet since I picked up my car. I do get the occasional loud speaker 'pop' when I start my car, so if this update fixes that at the same time then it will be worth getting for me. :)

Had a similar problem on my old Peugeot 208 touch screen in cold weather. Not had it on my Polo yet though.

Is this fix a software or hardware fix, can't see a software fix helping here!

finally gone in to VW for the fix hoping it will be a software update only but waiting on the service monkeys to discover what's wrong. have made a note of version number and serial number of radio just to check they do their job.

Got an UP! for a couple of days and it's a bit slow compared to the polo other than that it's a nice go kart and the radio works!!!

Don't hold your breath I initially had a firmware update then a new unit......speakers still pop with speaker fade. Not had touchscreen problems though.

i've had a phone call of vw today regarding the radio issue

they are looking into whether or not the newer unit can be fitted as i think there is a design flaw with the early units
