Hello Everyone!

Firstly, I'm new so if this is located incorrectly i do apologise!

I'm currently looking in to getting the "Plug and Play" sound system fitted from VW with my RCD 510. From what I have read this seems to be possible but I would just like some clarification this is indeed true.

I have spoken to Aberdeen Specialists and they are pretty clueless, which is no surprise. I have fitted subwoofers to previous cars but felt with this I would quite like it fitted in case anything gets damaged then its up to them to sort. On the other hand if this is actually pretty simple to fit then I can source it from germany reasonably cheaply (certainly in comparison to VW anyway, https://shop.autohaus-graupner.de/de/vw ... mulde.html ) any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Cheers guys!

I looked into this, and found buying a PP52DSP and match subwoofer was a much better deal.

The plug and play system is a crippled version of the above.

To fit the PP52DSP all you need is a T Harness. No wires to cut ect.

Thanks very much for the info!

I have since found a plug and play system for £215 delivered so I'm thinking i might just go for that and fit it myself as it would appear pretty simple. How much did it cost to get the PP52DSP and match subwoofer and where from?

Cheers

What impact does the plug&play system have on sound?
I feel the audio on my GTI is very bad. Tons of bass but everything else is drowned out. It has reasonable mids but herrible highs.
I don't think another subwoofer would help this, or would it?

Or for the 350€ I could switch the stock speakers for better ones, maybe?

Well basicaly with the plug and play you have to use a prebaked calibration, works great for stock speakers but will not work with aftermarkets.

These two graphs show my car before I calibrated it with the PP52DSP and a mic and after. I also changed the front speakers to focals.

The sound is far more balanced now, makes a real difference. The grey is the perfect reference curve, the orange is what the speakers are producing.
