62 Plate Polo 1.2 Match BLUETOOTH NOT WORKING

Hi there I am hoping someone could help me?
I have recently purchased a 62 Plate Polo 1.2 Match. On my Radio I have option for Setup -> BT Audio -> BT Audio on/off however my iPhone will NOT pick up the bluetooth atall, won't even find the car to connect...? The only thing that concerns me is that on my steering wheel there are no buttons for answering a call etc so I'm concerned that connecting a phone isnt an option - but surely it should be as I can physically turn bluetooth on/off on radio..
