Hi all,

Planning on changing my wife's wheels over to a winter set. Can anybody confirm the torque for the wheel bolts on a 2015 1.2TSI SEL?

Out of interest, what size/type of wheels and tyres are you fitting?

I thought it was 112nm on the 1.2Tsi?? (82ft lbs) I know there's not much in it, but just wondered.

The difference is fractional. Either is sufficient

VAG wheel bolts of that size have been 120NM for a very long time, though that does not mean to say that 112NM is now wrong for that model of car, but it does seem to "look" too conveniently close to 120NM to be correct - dealer workshops would know the definitive answer. German engineers would be more likely to pick 110NM or 115NM, 112NM just looks too much like a figure that you would end up with after converting from British units to SI units.

I just had a glance at the owners handbook (not because I have OCD it just happened to be sat on my bookshelf) that indeed lists 120nm for either alloy or steel wheels. Not much in it, but we may as well have it right.

I'm a bit surprised that VW have bothered to include that information in the owners handbook (wife is out with the car and the handbook is kept in the car), in this age of health and safety, I'd expect a magic fairy is the only person that is expected to need that information.

Problem is the "magic fairy" charges you £50 a throw to sprinkle you with his magic dust.
