Standard Steel Wheel Size on 2000 6n2?

Post by Daves1991 »

Hey all sorry for the stupid question, but what is the standard wheel size on 2000 6n2? I bought the car with 175/55/13 with rolling radius of 522mm but I've read that the 6n/6n2 standards are 185/55/14 with rolling radius of 559mm...

Are my wheels too small?

I'm looking at wheels with 195/50/15 tyres on them are they too much of a diff on Speedo? The diff from my current ones would be 9% so 60mph would be 65mph ?! Is that correct?

Also how do I check my Speedo is correct? And how would I go about adjusting it if I have to?

Thank you!!

13s are standard on 8Vs. 14s are standard on 16vs and TDI models

175/60/13 is the standard size.

For 15s, youll need 195/45/15 for the speedo to be accurate. 50s throw the speedo a little. I run them for winter wheels and its a bit of a pain (purely because winter tyres dont come in a 45 profile)

You cant adjust the speedo on these.

Ah okay thank you, looks like the previous owner bought the wrong ones then... Didn't realise until 3 months later haha.

Well I think I'm gonna get the 15 alloys, cheap set for with decent 195/50/15 tyres for £80. I was only holding off because of the huge rolling radius difference but seeing as its supposed to be 175/65/13 then it's only 3% Speedo inaccuracy which I can deal with.

Thanks again.
