central locking with a key

Hi gang................again
Right in short my driver door key ( I must mention that the driver door lock has been changed and so uses a different key from original) will unlock all the doors but will only LOCK the driver door when turned the other way, the other door buttons stay up. However the original ignition/door key will unlock and lock all the doors from the passenger side.
Is there something I can look for so that the driver door locks all the doors?
Thanks

Sounds like the switch in the drivers door isnt working properly
Check the loom between the car and the door for split wires as this is very common (i know youve already done this, but its a very thin wire used on the door switches so it might not be that obvious)
Otherwise, you may need a new door lock.

Should turning the driver door key clockwise unlock the door.................yes (obviously) but, should it also drop the two front windows if held for a couple of seconds

Am I missing something then Alex............................why? I mean, what reason would you have for wanting to open the windows from outside the car?

It's been a feature on vws for years
Say it was a hot day and you wanted to open the window just a bit without having to put the key into the ignition and do it that way
Same thing if you left a window open after getting out the car you can close it without getting back in
It's called full closure
