New order question

I placed an order with the dealer on Saturday and was told that the finance was accepted on Monday and that I should receive the tracking number later that day.
I still haven't had the tracking number emailed to me so I emailed the dealer just to check that the order went through ok.
No reply so 24 hours later (today) I called and was told the salesman would get back in touch today to answer my query.
No phone call!
Question is how long after your order was placed did you recieve the tracker number?
I don't want to nag the dealer as I know there's a few months to wait but just want confirmation that the order had been sent/accepted.
Strangely enough they called regularly when We were trying to get the deal sorted!

Fairly typical dealer practice, the salesman I dealt with assured me that I was not just buying a car but joining a family who would offer help and support throughout the life of my car. I'm still waiting for a response to the question I emailed them in November 2014! When chased by phone I was promised a response that day, what a joke!

i really do hope you didn't order from sinclair newport. the only time they contacted me after the day i ordered was asking when was i going to come in and pay for my car.

I got my tracker number the same day my dealer placed the order. I agreed the deal in the morning, the dealer ordered the car in the afternoon and e-mailed me the tracker number shortly afterwards.

Frustrating to hear others with the same experience!
Seems the 'customer service' ends (rather than begins) when you place the order.
The frustrating thing is that once I get the tracking number I wouldn't really need to speak to the dealer for a good few weeks as that's the point of being able to track the car yourself!!!
I will give them until this afternoon out of courtesy then I'll be on the phone again and I'll ask them direct why they haven't returned my email or calls!
We shall see .……........

Thanks for the replies,
I called again today expressing my disappointment in the lack of any response for 3 days and then received an email within an hour with the tracking number.
Thanks VW now I will leave you in peace!

I think I got my order number the day or two after I ordered mine, so it really depends on dealership it seems. I've had like three or four calls/emails since I picked up my car in May to see how everything is as well (this is from Jardine Motors Lancaster VW in letchworth)

Certainly don't bother with VW Inchcape Swindon. I don't think they would know customer service or indeed the concept of answering phones.

Glad you got your order number sorted! Normally you'll get an order number once the dealership tag the car on their order portal. So chances are they've been slow at doing this. Just keep an eye on the tracker but take what it says with a pinch of salt
