6c GTI clutch

Hey, new to the forum but had my polo since sept.
I was out driving with my mate last night and tried a few 0-60 runs and gave it a go with traction control switched off. Apart from a lot of wheelspin when I went from 1st into 2nd the clutch peddle didn't come back up until the revs dropped back off.
This have never happened before with TC on, me being abit worried didn't try it agin. Everything is working fine still but was just wondering if anyone else have had this or why it might of done it??
We were going to give it a go in his bluegt but he hit a pothole and split the tyre
