Hello,

i have got a Polo GTI 6R with Monza alloys running on 215/40/17 tyres which is what VW recommends, after a long search for tyres i have notice that 215/40/17 are more expensive then 205/40/17? has any one put 205/40 on before? would it make much of a different ? the tyres im looking at to get are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 which has a very good rating? However these tyres only comes in 205/40 or 215/45? can i have some advise please before i place an order

The only difference is that it will make the speed on the speedo a couple of mph higher than the speed you are actually driving.

I myself have 195/40-17 summertires. So no problem there.

how do those compare to the GS-D3 tyre they make, as they are only £2 more for 215/40/17 size

i've had the gs-d3 one on a previous car and i really liked them.

I noticed this too and i've since always ran my wheels on 205/40/17 tyres.
The difference in MPH is that tiny you will not notice it at all
I run Toyo Proxes T1-R and take my car to the ring every year and they are great!
