Possible brake pedal issue?

I have recently taken delivery of a GTI. Has anyone else noticed there is a bit of dead travel at the top of the brake pedal? It almost sticks slightly before releasing. It only does it every 3rd brake application.

I've had it in at my local dealers and was told 'they all do that sir' so wondered if anyone else has noticed it?

Thanks in advance.

I had a similar issue with my daughter's late 2009 Ibiza 1.4 16V SC, I hoped that it would get worse and I could identify what the problem was, but it went from being intermittent to disappearing a few years ago. I was guessing that it might have been due to an issue that the top of the pedal where the servo push rod contacts the nylon(?) cup(?) that contacts the pedal end of that push rod.

Edit:- I would not be impressed if this issue ever occurred with wife's new Polo!

Cheers for the reply

It does seem to be an issue from the top of the pedal. Feels like it is sticking. If the car wasn't brand new if just assume it needed greasing.

It's going bank to the dealers tomorrow for them to take another look at it.

Just to clarify things, my daughter never ever complained to me about this happening to her car which was bought by her when new, I started using it when she went to Oz for a year, a three years ago, it was only then that I noticed this when I first started using that car. I was thinking that it was due to lack of lubricant and the nylon cup(?) had started to delaminate, which would have meant that it could only ever get worse - not so! Similar issue with my Audi S4 when I bought it secondhand, though that time it was the clutch pedal clicking, that was due to some nylon bits needing either replaced or lubricated, Audi dealer, as a first fix, applied some lubricant, two and a half years later car is still okay.

Any fix etc from your dealer?

No, there's not been any fix from the dealers. They initially said it was a feature, now there saying there's nothing wrong with it.

Going to monitor it for a bit, hopefully it'll either get worse so it can be fixed or I'll get used to it!
