To buy or not to buy? 1.4 2000 polo that burns a bit of oil...

Hi all,
Looking for a bit of advice- I tinker with cars quite a bit but don't know much about polos. Family friend has a year 2000 polo with 105k on the clock that my brother might buy from her. It burns a bit of oil though, she reckons she's put 3/4 of a litre of oil into it over the last 4,000 miles. Car is in pretty good condition and has been serviced regularly, so looking for advice as to what the oil consumption could be caused by- do they all burn that much oil? I appreciate that isn't actually that much oil for a 100k car, so it might just be something to keep an eye on rather than worry about too much. It doesn't smoke from the exhaust.
It had a few advisories for the last MOT, one of which was corroded rear spring seats. Are these easy enough to change if they're past saving?
Otherwise the car doesn't need anything apart from some work on the front electric Windows that are very slow and sometimes get stuck, requiring a helping hand to get them back up again. Since they do still technically work, I might get away with a rebuild, rather than replacing the motors and or guide mechanism. Are the motors easy to take apart and reassemble, or are they sealed units?
Thanks all,s.
