Hello All,

I am new to this forum but a loyal Volkswagen owner. I currently own a Match Edition 1.2 70PS Polo 6R from new which I added a few optional extra at purchase. Its a great car and returns good fuel economy for 60 mile round trip to work at 60mph on dual carriageway. I do find it to be underpowered when more than two people present and has to worked when joining a slip road but is a joy to own.

I am approaching the end of my PCP and looking at a new Polo 1.0MPI 75PS, performance does not bother me but I like a lot of optional extras which I plan on adding most of them barr the sunroof and ACC which can not be added anyway. I am gadget mad!

HOWEVER on test drive the car felt more lively but I am in two minds whether to have the 1.2TSI 90PS? I had this car as a courtesy for a week once and it got through fuel faster than my 1.2 70PS did.

Has anyone got the 1.0MPI 75PS and can give me feedback or confirm its a good engine to have? I am married and children are on the cards IE the cheaper engine and in turn insurance.

Kind Regards,
James

I rented one in Spain last summer. It's not quick. Official figures say that it's fractionally slower than the old 70PS 1.2, probably because the new engine has about as much torque as the motor in the blower fan. But it drove nice enough, and coped just about having 5 6'+ blokes in it! It was pretty good on fuel too, and despite pulling over 4k rpm at 120 km/h (~75 mph) it was quiet and smooth on the motorway.
