It costs about 17.000 thousand kr here which translates to £100.

Don't waste you money... Your headlight is not designed to spread the light coming from an LED bulb so it won't shine right.

A non VW driving friend fitted his car with an expensive LED conversion. It worked well and did not produce any error messages.

After an unreasonably short time a bulb failed but replacements were not available, blown bulb = new conversion. Before you buy check out whether parts are generally and cheaply available. Loose you lights in the back of nowhere with no spare or prospect of buying one and you are in trouble.

The seller says it works well for vw. Its with that canbus system and ive seen 3 or 4 people post pictures of theyr vw on facebook with these LED's. So they must be working propperly if so many people are buying them.

You asked for opinions - and you got them. So now it is up to you to make a decision....

The same reason that Xenon in a reflector housing doesn't work; the headlight unit simply isn't made for it. Stick to halogen.
And also, in many countries it simply isn't legal to do so. Halogen in halogen housings, xenon in xenon housings, LED in LED housings.

Its legal here. I mean the LED wont damage the inside of the housing right ?.
