Checked fuses, all seem fine. What else could cause this issue please. Thanks

Stalks, wiper motor, wiring

One thing to remember here, if I'm correct, it is one of your car's controllers that actually switch the power to the wipers - not just a wire coming from the stalk/relay. So, is the car's bonnet closed properly - if not I think that the wiper action is inhibited.
Different story, one day in summer, with no rain, the wipers on my B5 Passat switched on - the only way that I could stop them was to pull into the side of the road, switch the engine off, switch back on, wipers then stayed off - that only happened once, but that was enough to concern me!

Thanks guys.
My problem is still not resolved. Took into vw and they said changed motor but still not working. They said it could be body control unit thats shorting the wiper motor?

can't imagine, since there is not a direct connection from the bcm to the motor. they are controlled through a relay

if the relay is dead, would that affect anything else other than the wiper motors?

I'd think that the relay is for switch that wiper motor and nothing else.
