Engine swap?

Hey guys!
Now people are probably gonna think I'm senseless for asking the question but I currently own a 1.2 (clever me thought low insurance), however it's been modded and I know for a fact that perhaps next year I'm gonna want to get something a bit more beefy. Now I love the polo and have for years, finally getting one was so exciting to me however I need to know if it's gonna be an option to swap the engine in the future for a 1.4 TSI or something similar or is this going to be a waste of time and a lot of money? Any help is appreciated!
Cheers

Not impossible but not economically viable both from either an engineering point of view or registration/insurance wise although that will vary from country to country. It's not just the engine and gearbox it's all the ancillaries, electronics brakes Etc. Add them up and the list just gets bigger and bigger,if you want to do a proper job.
Far better to get your car in a good saleable condition and sell or part exchange to get the car you really want.
Being a stubborn and pig headed old git I've ignored that advice on a number of ocassions in the days when cars were much simpler. It's more fun modifying your car but you will end up with a lot of work to produce a vehicle that is compromised in one way or another.

Also, interesting to note that the OP is aiming for putting a 1.4TSI in there - probably twin charger, nice mess that could turn out to be?
I once considered fitting an OHV 1.5GT engine into a Ford Anglia van - and probably add in the struts from a bigger Ford van as it had discs????
Luckily life moved on and my brain got into gear but not as quick as rust got into the Anglia van!

1500GT into 105E nice swap, I found it a bit more difficult to fit Ford 289 V8.
Needs a bigger shoe horn but it was possible, just imagine that with CANBUS and today's sparky bits!

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate you very much as a forum visitor... but can I quote you on this, occasionally?

Feel absolutely free to do so, it has taken me years of practice and application to become a grumpy old man so it is only fair that somebody else should benefit from it. As a fervent European I am particularly grumpy and miserable this week!
