Also is it normal for a new turbo to take 8 days to get to the dealer?!

What engine and yes can take a while if the part is on back order

Do you know the reason it failed?

Not very technical when it comes to turbos but essentially the "fan looking" part disintegrated. Will ask vw exactly what happened when I eventually get the car back.

Apparantly the turbo I'm getting is updated over the ones that came in the car's from the factory so whether that means there's a known issue I don't know.

It can happen to every car with a turbo. It's just unlucky for you that it was your torbo I'm affraid.

It's not a common fault. So don't worry. The chances of it happening again is probably slim to non.

As for your "8 days to dealer" question... If the part is not in stock you have to wait for it...

Just like my non serviceable timing chain that wrecked my engine just outside of warranty..... Funnily enough VW rebuilt my engine with 'upgraded' non-faulty parts.........................

I had the same issue, turbo blown after just 2500 miles.
Took 4 weeks to get sorted, absolute nightmare.
