I've seen some members have fitted another engine cover to their BlueGTs and want to confirm if't a direct fit and if they could tell me how much the parts cost from the dealers. I've seen the parts online but don't fancy risking ordering from China, etc and waiting several weeks.

The bolt was included.
It's a direct fit - can't remember the prices,......

Just in case anyone else is wanting prices for this cover i called into VW today
Cover - £46.43 + vat
Bracket - £8.70 + vat
Bolt - £0.32 + vat

Total - £66.54 inc vat

is there a tsi engine cover for the 1.2 that will fit?

Not sure - i only found out about this cover after seeing a post on here where someone fitted 1 to their GT

This is the same as the 1 i've ordered (from Golf MK7) as says it fits the 1.2 - does the engine look the same as yours?

This is what mine looks like, that engine cover looks alot better how do i do the conversion?

Ah - looks different to the Golf - Golf has air filter in front of rocker cover whereas yours is at side

Maybe another VAG cover will fit? maybe someone on here has fitted a different 1?

Well cover arrived today - just need a car to fit it on now - saturday is the collection day

Perhaps VW make the car without the cover to provide some cooling for the ACT solenoids, such devices last longer when the don't get excessively hot. Time will tell.

The engine pictured above is a 1.2 without covers - do they have solenoids?
I wouldn't think the cover will be too close to the head so some air will still get under it - i'll remove it for any servicing/ warranty work just in case

The cover is fitted as standard on the Golf7 1.4 gt act.So i cant see heat being to much of a problem in the Polo even with a smaller engine bay.I think it is just the vw bean counters have been at work cheapening trying to cut costs.I dont think this cover will fit the uk 1.2 it looks very different to the 1.4act.

There is more free air space under a Golf bonnet than there is under that of a Polo. That might make a difference but my point is only speculation. Being old school I would prefer to see the oily bits devoid of any spurious plastic mouldings. I find the purity of engineering excellence infinitely preferable to the sanitized look of current engines. A lot can happen to an engine unobserved beneath cosmetic plastic, I prefer an early warning to a sudden shock.

Look at a current BMW six, compare it to an XK series Jaguar motor, I know which I find most impressive. Golf engine compared to Classic Alfa twin cam, no contest.

I respect your choice to cover up and hope it gives you great pleasure although on a personal front I find it incomprehensible. It's a good job we all have different views though, life would be so boring if we were all the same.
