Car not recognising open boot

Hi all,

Picked up a lovely condition 1.9tdi 9N3 today. Have a minor niggle though in that you unlock the boot (either by pressing the remote fob twice or by using the boot open button) and physically open the tailgate, the car then doesn't recognise that the boot is opened. This results in the alarm reactivating itself 30 seconds later and the entire car re-locking itself.

The boot light doesn't come on, nor does the boot open icon on the dash.

Apparantly the microswitch in the boot was recently replaced, so I'm not sure if there is something that's been missed or if there could be another issue?

Thanks
Tim

Could be broken wires between the tailgate and the body. Check inside the rubber gaiter that runs between the two

Thanks Alex. I'll check.

Do you happen to know if there is more than one microswitch on the boot mechanism? Ie one for the locking , one for the alarm etc? The invoice I have from June just days the boot Microswitch was replaced...

So after some dismantling and a bit more research I bought a new latch mechanism and this was the problem.

Does anyone know the size of the 12 spline bolts holding the latch mechanism in place? I'll need to buy the right one as i don't have a set!

Thanks. Turns out an Allen key does the job just as nicely :)
