Polo GTI - New alloy needed!

Hi guys,

So I've just signed up to the forum after having some trouble finding somewhere I can purchase a new wheel for my pride and joy.

I'm the proud owner of a 65 plate Polo GTI.

I took my car into VDub yesterday afternoon for its first service and, whilst performing there health check, they discovered that my front right alloy has been damaged beyond repair. Although it has only been put down as an advisery I will be replacing the alloy ASAP but hopefully not paying the astronomical price the dealership wants (around £550 along). After searching for a new alloy I've come across plenty of used ones on Ebay and Gumtree but I'm after a NEW one. I've searched high and low on the VW Website itself but they don't list them!

I am considering getting a new set of wheels as the Parabolica's look great but they're a pain in the arse to clean and the black finish scratches horrendously easily. I've looked at the Motorsport alloys that I can buy from VW for a reasonable price but I'm also awear of the alternative wheels they sell with the Polo GTI - 'Serron'.

Where can I find Polo GTI Alloys!?

Where can you find Polo GTI alloys? have you tried the classifieds section of the forum? One member (Tam9n) is selling a set of 9 week old Parabolcas, or they were in June, so they may have sold them now.

If they're not still for sale, then unless you can find someone else who has taken the Parabolica wheels off their GTI when new (to replace them with an alternative set of wheels), and they're prepared to split the set and sell you just 1, I doubt you'll have any option but to buy a new wheel from VW.

The Motorsports are nice, but be aware they're 7" wide whereas the Parabolicas are 7.5" wide. Serrons are 7" wide as well and are likely to be a similar price to Parabolicas. VW Motorsports used to be available in anthracite, black or white, but they're no longer available in anthracite. You may find the black ones are just as prone to scratching as the black sections on your Parabolica alloys. Personally, I'm not a fan of white alloys; white alloys covered in brake dust is not a nice look so would require lots of cleaning!

I'd take the car to an alloy repair specialist before I did anything else. I've seen alloys repaired from some horrendous states.

VW are of course going to tell you that you need a new wheel...
