clicking noise coming from drivers side dash

Hi all I'm new to the whole new forums as I've never joined one until now because I need help! 
right here goes I have just bought a 2010 polo gti it's a lovely little motor but I have a issue with a clicking noise I don't quite get it. It's like a indicator click. I also have a issue with that area because when I pull out the light switch fogs come on but light on dash doesn't shine could this be related ? Any help guys would be appreciated
