Ive had this Iphone 5 cradle just lying around for a while now that came with the car when i bought it. But unfortunately I cant use it since I have an iphone 6.
Instead of throwing it away, I thought that maybe i could use it to build something out of it that could make it work with my iphone 6.

What I did was I totally toar the cradle apart, because I was only interested in the back piece where the connector is. Then I made a cover plate out of a thin piece of metall by using the backpiece as a cut out and painted it black. After that i had to solder a new chargercable onto the existing one on the PCB. I am only interested in the Bluetooth and charger function so the two buttons for answering and making calls had to be removed. And that was basicly it. When i had my charger cable done i just put everything back into the backpiece and screwed the coverplate on there. I bought a simple cradle at a local carpart shop and used adhessive tape to attach it to the cover plate. If anyone else is interested in doing this feel free to ask me any questions. I did not explain it in deatail now. But anyway, here is what i ended up with:

Call me lazy but I find it easier to keep mine in my pocket.

Thank you, it sure did ! Yeah i hear you, alot easier but i wanted to be able to use the handsfree function and the bluetooth option when playing music. Also its quite handy when you use GPS on your phone, its in a good position there and easy to look at

I think I must have offended the great God Google in a previous life as neither Google Maps or any Gamine based system will acknowledge the existence of my home nor a number of destinations I've wanted to go to so I've no use for the GPS. Music, transferred all of my favourite stuff to a couple of SD cards so that can be managed on the car display.

Fortunately the VW sat nav does recognise my home, the Luftwaffer also managed to find it in 1943, could there be a connection?

Could you guys help me out ? . I need to know this
