Hi,

I am looking at buying a Polo Match and wanted the Knight alloys but VW are saying no stock around at the moment and could take 5 months to be available? Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this....

All manufacturers will have supplier issues at various times. VW have just resolved a despute with their suppliers of seats and gearbox casings for some models of the Golf, which has increased delivery timescales by quite a few weeks for some customers. VW don't make their own alloy wheels, so it's possible there's a supply chain issue with the manufacturer of the Knight alloys that's causing the delay.

There is an alternative 16" wheel for the Polo under the 'accessories' section of the VW website; the Syenit. These look very similar to the Knight alloys - link below;

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/acce ... /1#details

The Syenits are more expensive than it would be to spec the optional Knight alloys on a new Polo Match; £190 each / £760 for a set of 4 Syenits compared to £575 to spec the optional Knight alloys. You'd also need to get tyres for the Syenits. However, if you're buying a new car, you should be able to negotiate a discounted price with the dealer to supply and fit a set of Syenits + tyres. The Polo would come from the factory with its original wheels + tyres that you could then sell to offset the cost of the Syenits.

Bear in mind that if you're putting a set of Syenits to your car, this would be considered as a modification for insurance purposes, so you'd need to inform your insurer, who may charge an additional premium.

The lead time for a new Polo is quite a while anyway.

Does anyone know who makes the Knight alloys?
