Spare Keys?!?

Hi All,
I've been looking into spare keys / transponders as my spare is on the fritz.
The car (1.4 75bhp 6n2) came with 2 keys, both are solid, 0 buttons.
The car has central locking, but apparently not remote (does this sound correct?)
Both keys will unlock the car, activate the central locking and turn the ignition barrel.
Only 1 will start it though.
Is there a way to resync my non-starting key to the immobiliser, or am I into new key territory?
I had a quick look online and can only find info on programming remote keys.
Any help is appreciated!
