I want to buy a new back box but I'm unsure of the part numbers.
I'm more of a original part and not performance
budget is possible £150

Any advice welcome.

Also I could possible weld this box but I doubt I would be doing the car or my self any favors.

Cheers
Nik

I'll dig an original economy part number out. The original original isn't available anymore and the economy part is the replacement

Quality is as good as original and they are made in portugal

its designated for the diesel models, but the diameter is the same (its just a two pipe outlet instead)

OK I got one of these 1.9 TDI back boxes £40, I need to get the middle section as it needed releasing to fit the back box but it was too rusty £40

So this is now a Polo 6n2 GTI with a 1.9 TDI back box.

It sounds a little more open, less responsive.

Just wondering if anyone knows of possible side effects of having a 1.9 TDI back box Exhaust on a 1.6 GTI?

I read some stuff about back pressure and MPG being poor.

Shouldn't make a great deal of difference. The bore is the same and the back pressure isn't much different between the two systems

Back pressure on petrol engines is a bit of a myth anyway

I'm not too concerned as the engines done a good 180k
It does feel less responsive even if the old back box was blowing from more places than it should.
We'll see what happens.
