Fake Ferodos?

Just bought some 'old stock' Ferodo pads off 'you know where' for a tenner.
The box looks old & dog eared but genuine, the backing plates look real, but the compound looks course & porous with no bevels at the ends.

I'm no expert on pads, has anyone knowingly had fakes? How do you tell?
For a tenner I'm not going to cry about it but I won't do it again.

No bevels isn't unusual

The main reason for the bevels is to save on the amount of material used as a cost cutting exercise

And there was me thinking the bevels were the product of millions spent in research.
Had another comment (406 forum) that ferodo compound is always coarse.
So maybe not fake then.

If thay fade & stink and/or catch fire that might be an indicator.

Decades ago a mate bought some pads for a fiver for his Lotus Cortina. He had flames in the arches
