Dashcam into fuse box?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a dashcam after getting involved in an accident that wasn't my fault, but had no proof.

I'd like to get one that plugs directly into the fuse box, therefore bypassing the 12v socket and allowing it to be plugged in continuously, starting up automatically with ignition.

I've got my eye on this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... CRAL1WSU5Q

Has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any instructions regarding how to fit this into my Polo?

Many thanks guys

I bought a kit from eBay it is a wiring kit that has a live onto a dummy fuse that you plug your chosen fuse into then attach the earth to a body earth and it works fine I used the 12v socket fuse

Sorry to hear about your accident! Very interested in this camera for my new car. Can you post your install?

That camera design seems like a good idea in principle, but, quite a lot of Polos will have sensors already built into the mirror "pod" - if your car does not then that does not matter for you. Also the simple idea of plugging it into the OBD2 socket sounds like a good idea, but that supply is always live so the camera would run continuously, which might be okay, but might have it heating up too much etc.

I'm still thinking/waiting to buy a camera, would like to be brave enough to open up the camera and built it into the already highly populated mirror pod (rain sensing and auto lights). This sort of thing that I'm referring to has been done already to maybe a Golf.

I thought the same about the auto lights/rain sensors earlier! I really like the idea of the camera being kind of hidden so guess just need to look around once I have my car and see what fits.

I have the older model of this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Camera-GPS-Gen ... B00S556AQU its small and quite compact.
the only issue I have is when its cold outside the camera does not come on till its warmer inside
