Stolen GTI. Best way to get keys replaced?

My GTI was stolen last night when thieves broke in to my home and grabbed the keys.
The police have recovered the car, parked up, and now I need to get a new key, and both keys reprogrammed. The local locksmith say they haven't got the software for a 2016 Polo, what would you advise as the cheapest way to get another key, and both keys reprogrammed? It's a lease car, so I need proper VW keys.....

You would be wise to go back to the dealer as theyll need to it properly via Germany. Normally, your car insurance will cover the cost of the replacement keys.
Really, if they have taken the keys, youll need new door locks, boot lock and a new ignition barrell, with a new key all together otherwise its not secure!

Thanks Alex. Unfortunately my insurance excess is £600 so I'll be paying for this out of my own pocket. My main concern is the cost of getting a the code reprogrammed on both keys.

Our local VW dealer charges £75+VAT to do the keys. The physical key cost is worse.
Youll be looking at around £300/£400 i would think to get two new keys, though really, you do need to get the barrells replaced just in case the thieves either copied the key, or still have the key.

I'm afraid I'm with Alex on this one. The only way is the dealership, since they have the equipment to not only add the new keys but only remove the old keys from the immobilizer.

New keys are £144.14 each list price, plus the GTI cap at £11.80
Door lock cylinders are £95.57 each
Ignition switch is between £134 and £168
They do a lock cylinder set however, which includes 2 new keys, the ignition barrel and the door lock(s) for around £300 inc vat, plus time to fit.

Thanks Alex. The dealer has just quoted me £345 for new barrel, locks and coded keys with another £342 to fit them. And it takes 3 weeks for the ignition barrel to arrive. What a nightmare.

Crikey. I did think it would be about that, but the labour charges hurt
See if you can screw them down a bit on the price!

Yes, they are taking a liberty. They said they'd throw in the coding for free if I got them to fit the parts - I then pointed out to them that they'd already said that the cost of the coding was already included in the £347 for the parts.
Can anyone recommend a good main dealer in the Derbyshire/Yorkshire area? I'd like to do some ringing around and haggle a bit?
