What's the normal running temperature for the oil? Mine is new car only two hundred miles and I know it's been very hot outside but seems to be between 105 and 108 degrees on the motorway. Is this normal for the gti ?

Mine runs at about 103°C

When fully warmed up, my oil temperature is usually in the range 100 - 104°C. I rarely do motorway driving.

So mine is 105 to 108 maybe it's because it's new?

I think that might be a contributory factor as your engine won't have loosened up yet. On the few occasions when I've driven my GTI on a motorway and driving at a constant 70-ish, I've seen the oil temperature up to 106.

remember that the sensor isn't going to be massively accurate

so that sounds fairly normal temps to me

Thanks yes this was on motorway and outside was twenty nine degrees so pretty hot too. Will keep eye on it and oil use too.

I have done 5.5k and the oil temp is between 104 and 108 depending on ambient temperature so yours seems to be within the normal range. Not sure what the percentage error range is with the temperature sensor? The electric fan does not come on and not using any oil.

Mine is hovering between 103 and 109, which I think is an increase on last year. I'm wondering if it's because the oil is now over 14,000 miles old

About to do an oil/filter changed on mine at 5.5k
