I was busy with my headlights today and did not start the engine up
but just had the headlights on while changing the one headlight bulb.
I must have had the lights on for a maximum of 30 minutes intermittently but when
I started the engine the battery had a very lazy swing but it managed
to start up.Now every time the car I start the car up it has this lazy swing.
could this have damaged the battery or is it just a coincidence that the
battery decided to expire on me.Anyone else out there have this problem
or have a similar problem.Its a Polo 6c comfortline 2011.

6 years is not too bad for a battery... they'll wear out over time and a deep discharge is even worse for its lifespan.

PS, a 2011 polo is a 6R, not a 6C the 6C is made from 2014

Also, just get that battery tested, very easy to assess a modern battery but using a suitable battery tester - all that is done is while the battery is still fitted to the car, a battery tester is clamped across the battery and a minute later the answer is given.

Thanks guys for the advice I will get the battery tested and see from there
whether it needs replacing or maybe just needs to be charged up,yeah 6
years is a long time for a battery life.Pity they don't all last that long.

If your car has Stop/Start function then that battery is probably an ELB (Enhanced Lead Acid Battery) - it will need to be that or AGM to survive Stop/Start use, quite a few Skoda owners have already complained about rapid lose of battery health for cars that have ELB fitted, a quick health check will find out if that is your problem, remember replacing these batteries, if your car has a battery management controller fitted might need a bit more than just fitting another battery, if you replace "like for like" you should not need to do anything else, but it is always best to follow the correct VW Group procedure and code the new battery in. Make sure who ever fits a new battery, if it is needed, understands that.

No my car does not have the stop/start feature,it has a normal lead/acid battery.
I tried to charge the battery up today with no luck.It definitely needs replacing.
Will go in tomorrow and check by VW for an OEM battery,bought a 614 battery
for my polo vivo a while back for R944 from VW.
This has a 628 battery so I am expecting to pay a little bit more for this one.
In case you did not know when you disconnect the car battery the electric windows
lose their automatic opening function so to reset it all one would need to do when
all the windows are fully closed on the main button on the drivers door is to pull
all the four buttons up as if you are actually closing the windows and hold them
up for about 2 seconds.They can be done individually as well.Your windows will
then be able to open and close with one touch of a button as it was before the
battery was disconnected.

I done some checks and saw that my polo 6R supposed to have a 646 battery.
The battery that is in the car is a 628.I am thinking of going back to the battery
size that the car supposed to have in it.
I think the previous owner was cutting costs and decided to put a 628 instead
of the 646.What do yol think guys?
Should I put a 628/646?

Well the battery with the bigger capacity should remain reliable for longer than the lower capacity one, as I live in an area that gets quite low temperatures in winter, I always err on the "big" side.
