we have a 2008 Polo 1.4 Blue Motion, with remote central locking. The central locking seems to be very intermittent and we have to keep checking each door to make sure they have locked.

I'm under the impression looking on the web, that these locks are operated from a pump in the boot? Does anyone know what the issue I have might be?

I'm thinking that you are reading the wrong stuff on the internet, pump operated locks were what it was back in the Audi 80 days, maybe in 70s/80s none of that in these cars.

What you really need to establish is, does the central locking work 100% when you use the key in the driver's door. After working that out you would know if it was the "remote" function or the "locking" function.
