Hey guys,

Long story short I noticed a knocking coming from the rear when I'm turning left hard, I checked myself and everything looks okay even went to a mechanic and got him to look at it up on the ramp and he says everything looks good, got no idea what it could be and if it is something to worry about. From my last MOT I know that the rubber is split on one drop link but they say the condition of that is good otherwise I'd be hearing knocking when driving normally not just when turning. Any suggestions are appreciated as this has my head done in.

Could be a rear console bush. is it definitely coming from the rear?

Absolutely certain, at first I thought it was the front but my girlfriend says the rear so I tested it again but with my head turned a bit and it is definitely coming from the rear of the car.

I have that issue with my wife's 2015 Polo, first thing to do is certainly to determine which end/side the noise is coming from. The problem with your car is, there is not much to make noises at the rear other than heatshields?

Just a quick update, found out what it was in the end, shock absorber had ruptured and there was nothing left in the shock. Got a new one fitted however it's squeaking.

Did you replace the top mount also?

I’ve heard of new shocks squeaking due to a fault in the shock itself. What make did you use?

I have absolutely no idea, I didn't do it myself just dropped it off at a garage because of work

Id take it back to the garage if someone else did the work for you
