Extended Warranty

VW offers an extended warranty thing, anyone had experience with them regarding it?

I think where the official VW "provided" warranty comes into its own is when you are up against what has become a known product issue, like the problem that the "twin charger" engines caused, it has been said that many of the owners of these cars, when buying them second hand, then covered their backs by buying a warranty from another source, would tend to avoid paying out on engine failure as these engines had know issues - that is one thing that could ever happen with a VW "provided" warranty as they always denied that there was a known issue.

I've had an Audi "provided" warranty on an Audi Approved car, but I never needed to use it, I've imported two VWs so they have only had the one year manufacturer's and I've had no issue with them over what would be an extended warranty period. I don't intend to buy a VW "provided" extended warranty for my wife's 2015 Polo as I'd rather use that money to fix it if it failed, or if it failed big time attempt to humiliate VW Group into behaving in an honourable manner.

I'd think that with your 1.4 Polo, you would be better off either not having an extended warranty or buy a "good" one from elsewhere. If you had bought a new car and wanted to control/limit your spend year on year over a fixed period, then the plan should be to lease a car, for some of the rest of us who can handle the hopefully never to happen wallet crunching experience, living lucky and looking after the car is the better plan in my mind.

Edit:- I would expect that any car manufacturer that offers an extended warranty plan, would need that car to have been within their dealer network service workshop circuit for its entire life up to the point of starting an extended warranty.

ah, perfect! its just that my RAC warranty runs out on the 17th or something of this month and i still seem to be having on-going issues with it since purchasing it last year (warranty came with the car)

Im at the stage where i may just sell the polo as its starting to become a hindrance.
