Apologies if this has been posted before, but I searched and couldn't find the problem!
I have a W reg Polo. Only had it a few weeks, bought privately.
Sorry if this all isn't technical terms, I'm no mechanic! Has been running fine until I revved the engine in 2nd gear, quite highly (up to about 30) a couple of times. Since then, there has been a loss of power when pulling away at junctions. It's like the accelerator just doesn't work for a short while, then the power kicks back in. Nothing is blocking the pedal, and it was fine before. Also, the engine chugs when idle, I can literally turn it off and on again and it's fine for a few minutes then the loss of power happens again.
Could anyone help please?
Thank you.

Re: Loss of power after revving
Id get it scanned with VCDS to start with
When was it last serviced? If its not recent, do the sparks, air filter, oil filter, oil and fuel filter, plus clean and realign the throttle body. That should fix your issue providing its not a sensor related problem.

Re: Loss of power after revving
Thanks Alex. Are these things that would be fairly easy for a layperson to do or is it a garage job? I would say I'm pretty good with this sort of thing, but have never done it before!

Re: Loss of power after revving
I wouldnt say any of it is particularly difficult if you are competent
For a first round though, I think id task it to a decent independent VW specialist and let them do it all if you have never done it before. Oil/filter is easy enough as is sparks, but fuel filter and the Tb are more involved.

Thanks again. Last question, are the garages much of a muchness? Or are there certain things to look for for a better/worse place?

Re: Loss of power after revving
Look for somewhere that specialises in VW. Ex VW mastertechs etc
All round garages are often a bad choice
Where are you located?
