Hi

I’m wanting to change the heater control unit in my 2010 Polo TDI for a more modern stylish one.. but the one that’s in my car has a hard cable going into the back of the blower direction dial, and all the ones I’ve seen on eBay don’t have any cables in the back..
So was wondering if anyone knows how to retro fit one of the new style one in (i.e. removing the hard cable).
Thanks
Scott

I think that you are attempting to upgrade your manual AC to Climatic, if so, that will probably be possible, but quite a lot of hard work and cost quite a bit on new parts.

The normal answer to that topic is "forget it!" - sorry.

if you want to upgrade to climatronic, this is how to do it
remove centre console
remove steering wheel and everything on the steering column
remove all dashboard fittings (vents, buttons, radio, switches, tacho)
remove dashboard
remove wipers, parafan, ECU, airbox etc
disconnect drained aircon hoses and coolant hoses
remove cross carrier underneath dash
remove heater housing
install climatronic heater housing
adjust wiring for climatronic
build in everything in opposite order
code engine ECU
fill up aircon and top up coolant

I did it, about a day's work....
