Fails to start occasional first attempt, always starts on second

Post by Stephen155 »

My Polo Moda 60 is occasionally failing to start on first attempt but always starts on second.

This never appears to happen on cold early mornings. Always between journeys when it does. Any ideas?

1.2
7 years old
30,000 on the clock
Fully serviced last week
Bought the car recently so not sure about battery.
I’m currently in the garage for another reason so getting them to do a health check on the battery

I'm guessing 1.2 3-cylinder 60hp petrol?
Do you know anything about service history? Spark plugs are ok?
Failing to start, does the starter crank, but engine doesn't catch or is there nothing happening?

The sparks have all been replaced.

I’m really uneducated with this...

I believe I’m right in saying the start cranks but the engine doesn’t catch.

It defo is nearly getting there but just isn’t.
