Aux?

I’ve recently bought my first car (2010 Polo) and it has an aux connection port (aux in) but I don’t know how to play it on the car. The head unit seems to be a bit different to others. At the top it says ‘mp3’ and the unit has silver buttons, unlike the normal one. Can anyone help, how do I play music off my phone using the aux???

hm... difficult to imagine what kind of radio you're running.
what about a picture of the headunit or any markings with a brand and a type number?

This is the head unit I’ve got. I think it’s stock but just not the ones that polos come standard with.

That's an RCD300 and it is the latest version, with the silver buttons.
It doesn't support AUX, the MP3 button is for playing MP3 files from a CD.
there are some emulators for a CD drive, that mimic being a CD changer, passing through audio allowing you to use an external interface like an iPod, AUX, bluetooth etc.
have a look on i.e.

I had the same problem,
I got a pioneer SPH-DA120 and retrofitted that.. comes with Apple car play, Google Maps, Bluetooth, two USB ports, HDMI, and Aux... works great if you have an iPhone and also works through mirror link if you have android..
100% worth the money u less you wanna keep it stock in which case you may as well invest in the RCD510..

If I fitted the rcd510 would I get the aux working and also would it have Bluetooth connectivity? Does it have gps satnav on it also? If so then that might be worth getting.
