Can't afford to get it fixed.
Bah.
I think Bodyshops quote out of their arses. First he tells me it's gonna cost £350 to fix... Now he tells me £462.
Now, if 1 litre of metallic paint really does cost £140, and the materials to paint ONE wing, ONE metal strip under the headlights and HALF a door cost £80 then how the fudge did Krupa get his damage and a full respray for £600??????
The bodyshop said that to paint the wing, repair/paint the slam panel (not much damage at all) and to blend the paint into the passenger door would take 10.5hrs @ £27p/h + VAT.
I want a bodyshop. I'd be so rich.

At that price you'd be better off driving to the bodyshop I took mine to, getting the train home while it's being done then get the train back afterwards.
They'd even take you to the nearest train station if you ask (they offered to when I took mine).

I'm convinced bodyshops quote whatever they come up with at the time. And it's always 2 - 3 times the actual cost.
It sucks mang. But hey, it's been kissed by reality - battle scars add character.

hmmmm my local garage quoted me £165 to "Flat and re-paint" (ie sand back down to the primer or further thru the two warring topcoats then totally redo it) the one door.... i mean... damn.... i could have a NOS one from Nelson (or a scrapper in the right colour) four times over for that!
and that was a
good quote. another place, for swapping glass/lock into new door (supplied by moi), "hanging" (fitting) and repaint / blend was over £350....
here's a thing - a can of primer and a can of paint will each just-about nicely do four 13" wheeltrims - total cost somewhere between £20 and £25 including the sandpaper to rough them up a little, and some white spirit to do a final surface clean before applying, all at single-item prepacked retail prices from halfords. That pretty much accounts for the surface area of metal on the door. Let's be extravagant and say you need twice as much - fifty quid. The other hundred and fifteen is all in labour........ thats about four whole nights work for me, and i'll be damned if it takes them more than 5 hours continual work to sort it out right (the door as it stands probably took about 3).
(plus they can get their sanding materials, white spirit and bogstandard grey primer by the extra-cheap bucket load, and i'd reckon the paint is discounted too)
gah
fancy a business partner for the bodyshop? its not as if you need to be highly professional to succeed, going by the state of mine

bah bloody bodyshops and garages, dammit Rob, bet they saw ur car and thought "he can afford a bit more"

.
The garage was going to charge me £140 just for labour to change a gearbox and pop a clutch in there at the same time (I supply everything)
ANd the bodyshop 2moro is charging £140, to sand down all the rust spots (arch and a bubbling bit and sort out my door (acutaly Gareth HOW bad was my door?! Afaul)), and respray the rear pannel a bit darker so it fits te rest of the car. - - £140

Should be OK, but I just need it completly finished by like 11 on thursday

because I have to Aberystwyth to go look for job for uni after I get my results. I'm guna hate this thursday. Bet I will get a BIG thick ear from mum about wasting money. But it's the last bit of money I will be spending on my car for a good 4years.

wish i knew your bodyshop... somewhere that'll bother doing a blending / panel tinting job on an "old car"? (if yours is old of course)
because I have to Aberystwyth to go look for job for uni after I get my results.
drop into Lidl and friendly abuse my tillmonkey brother while you're there. he'll be the morose looking one with the designer stubble and jowls

has hardly spoke a word to me for 2 years so someone else might as well.
But it's the last bit of money I will be spending on my car for a good 4years.
yeah, well, you say that, lets see if you can last 4 months
no. seriously.
