Hi, I’ve ordered a GTI plus and I just wondered whereabouts they are made and how long they take to make I ordered it 3 weeks ago, many thanks

Apparently so! People are a little frustrated by it all...Gavlar25 wrote:So is this the plant that’s closed until August?
Exactly the same for meGavlar25 wrote:Yes it’s a bit different to the 16-20 weeks the salesman told me as they took my £1000
21st March. With still no build week confirmation. I think it will be October or November before I see mine in the fleshGavlar25 wrote:So when did you order yours?
Best of luck, does anybody know why the plant is closed?alandbess wrote: Wed May 30, 2018 8:50 pm21st March. With still no build week confirmation. I think it will be October or November before I see mine in the fleshGavlar25 wrote:So when did you order yours?

People have stated it’s due to a strike, and due to adapting cars to new emissions regs. I’m confused, presumably the strike is incidental, the real reason is emissions, but why they hadn’t sorted this earlier beats me.Gavlar25 wrote: Wed May 30, 2018 8:53 pmBest of luck, does anybody know why the plant is closed?alandbess wrote: Wed May 30, 2018 8:50 pm21st March. The current official mpg figures are grossly misleading. If the WLTP regs lead to more realistic values, that surely is for the better. Whether or not the regs could have been introduced in a better way is another issue.alandbess wrote: Thu May 31, 2018 7:14 am I think it's a combination of issues. The new WLTP regs, model year changes and VW's new approach to flexible production. It seems that they're not only modular with their vehicles, it looks as though they're trying to do this with their assembly processes too.
As for the WLTP, I don't think it's just VW. I think the whole car industry is in the same position. The new WLTP regs are causing havoc. They're real life tests and done several times to give more realistic figures (not sure if it's a good or bad thing to be honest)

The good is that it will give realistic mpg figures, but long term it may increase VED pricesLeif wrote:The current official mpg figures are grossly misleading.
