Upgrades

i collect my new GTI + this weekend.
it doesnt have Brescia alloys (was in a rush so bought what was available) but these are a must in my opinion.
does anyone know of where these can be sourced as the dealer cant see them on their inventory ?
also, has anyone seen any news or tuners working on a Remap ?

I’d personally not change one set of diamond cut alloys for another set of diamond cut alloys.
If I was considering changing the standard Parker alloys. I’d consider wheels with a powder coated finish, which is much more durable finish than diamond cut, and is better suited to daily use in the UK climate, especially during winter months. In fact, many specialist alloy wheel retailers state that diamond cut alloys aren't suitable for winter use.
Diamond cut wheels have great showroom appeal but IMO, compared to a powder coated finish;
- they have poor durability; it’s not unusual for diamond cut wheels to suffer from white worm corrosion when they’re between 2-3 years old.
- they are expensive to refurbish, and because the refurb process involves removing a layer of metal by re-cutting the face of the wheel, the can usually only be refurbished a maximum of two times. More than two refrubs, and the structural integrity of the wheel can be compromised.
- they seem to be easily damaged by careless tyre fitters and poorly maintained tyre changing equipment.
Also, bear in mind that changing the wheels on your car is classed as a modification for insurance purposes and should be declared to your insurer, although if you’re considering a remap, you’re probably aware of this.
As for remaps; I’d live with the car for a few months first - you may find you’re happy with the car’s stock performance.

I second the fact diamond cut wheels are a headache to look after and avoid damaging. My A3 and Q7 both have DC alloys and the A3 ones already have a few scrapes from a previous owner which has ruined the lacquer.

I use alloygators on the wife’s and mine diamond cut alloys to protect them as the wife has a habit of kerbing them, she managed to completely destroy the front near side gator on my Volvo but the diamond cut was left without a mark.

I thought I would hate my Parker wheels and regretted not getting the bigger ones after I ordered. But actually the parkers look awesome on my limestone grey GTI +
