Has anyone ever lost all their emails from their hotmail inbox.

This has just happened to me this morning when i got up. The inbox was only about 60% full, and most of the mail was there for a reason.

Not a very happy chappy    , Does anyone know why this has happened and is it just me :?:

Everything has been deleted, and i had this one new email which was promoting the new hotmail upgrade.

Some of the emails were only received in the past few days, so i dont see why they should have deleted them.

I had the upgrade e-mail today. However, I've still got all my mail and personalised folders. Wierd that you've lost everything. :?

Without a bit of research I can't suggest anything - have you contacted Hotmail's admin staff? If you click 'help' in the top-right corner you can submit an e-mail to their techies.

Sorry to say this, but good luck getting hotmail to do anything about it.. they'll just write it off as another moron who accidentally deleted everything and wants them to fix it for them. Such is the way with microsoft tech support, I'm afraid.

A firewall makes life a bit harder for anyone trying to hack your personal computer. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about that, as you're highly unlikely to have anything on your PC that any hacker worth his salt would care about, and any hacker not worth his salt isn't worth caring about yourself.

However, hotmail is a website run by microsoft on servers in america.. they have many, many measures to prevent their servers being hacked, but it's p*** easy to hack an account stored on their servers. Remember when you signed up and gave them a secret question to ask in case you ever forget your password? "Pet's name?" for example.. think how many people know the name of your pet and you'll understand why it's easy for people to get into your account. The kind of people who do that are utter tossers, and certainly aren't to be thought of as hackers as they have as much hacking skill as a 5 week dead trout, but that doesn't stop them making life hell for the sake of a bit of strangely twisted fun...

If you want your email to actually be safe, either you want to get your email through a POP email system (you've probably got an email address like '[email protected]' which you download into outlook express or similar), or save a copy of any important emails onto your computer instead of just leaving them sitting on the hotmail website.

There is another (much much easier) way to hack a hotmail account. And the scary thing is, you only need the persons hotmail address.

I'm not going to go into to much details but basically you fool the automatic server into thinking your the owner of the email address and you've forgotten your password. The server will send you the password to the hacker's account (without asking any questions!) and then your free to login.

And before someone starts this does work as I've used it before.

I had some conformation emails for my wedding for next year and i also do internet banking so im hoping there wasnt anything there for them.

I also had some INsurance stuff on there which i hope doesnt contain anything worth while for someone else.
