Hi

Has anyone had a problem with the rear camera hatch/boot lock not closing? tonight I was in reverse and when I went to go into the boot the VW logo opener was still open with the camera deployed. I tried switching car on and off, locking it, unlocking it. I opened the boot from inside but still no joy. I think the camera is stuck or the VW logo is stuck. reverse camera still works. it just will not shut.

Any advice? I am still in warrantee I just was hoping someone had an easy fix that did not involve booking the car in.

Mike,

The new (AW) model Polo introduced from 2018 model year is the first Polo that has the reversing camera fitted behind the tailgate release handle. On the previous 6c/6r model, the reversing camera was fitted just above the rear number plate, between the rear number plate lights, so the same issue wouldn’t arise for anyone with a 2017 (or earlier) Polo.

The mk6 and mk7 Golf has the reversing camera in the same location as your Polo, so I’ve just done a ‘reversing camera’ search on the mk6 and mk7 boards in golfgtiforum.co.uk but only found one topic covering this issue;

Worth trying. If it doesn’t work and as you’ve only had your car a few weeks, then it’s probably a trip back to the dealer to sort it under warranty.

Problem solved

SRGTD did offer some advice. But that did not work, So dealer it would be. At just gone 10 am I rang the dealer (yea I know its a Sunday and only the car sales is open) I spoke to the Guy that sold me the car and he suggested ringing VW assist. So I did, and they came out by 1pm they had removed the camera and re fitted it and it now works like new.

reason for posting this is I assumed it would be a book a visit t the workshop type of issue, where as actually it was a call out the VW assist type of issue.

So please keep VW assist in mind, it does work the guys was friendly and very helpful, and it saves loads of time.
