MY2016 (16plate) gearbox 'rattle'

Hi all,
Firstly, sorry for joining the forums and immediately asking for advice.
My girlfriend has a 2016 Polo, 1L manual. It's done approx. 25k miles, with FVWSH and was bought as an AUC.
Since we bought it, the car has always had quite a loud rattle in 5th gear, mainly when low down in the rev-range.
If we change gear exactly when the little 'blue trainer' tells us to, it rattles very loudly, but it gradually gets quieter as the car climbs up the rev-range.
Is this normal? Does this little car not have much sound insulation around the gearbox area, or is it something that we need to get looked at?
Just seemed very odd to me that a car this new would have such a potentially huge issue, but at the same time, I struggle to believe that it should be like this?
Any and all help greatly appreciated, as I'm totally new when it comes to VAG cars.
Thanks all
Matt
