Do you need to do this?
I thought you could use Waze via Car Net App Connect and display the maps on the infotainment screen.

Third party maps support isn’t coming to CarPlay until iOS 12. Not sure about android.

Waze is available on android auto, I use it on the wife’s Ibiza as it shows speed camera locations.
