MY2015 Polo 6C EVAP error

Hi.

I've been following this forum for a while and finally made an account.

I own a VW Polo (6C) modelyear 2015 with the 1.2 TSI (90 Ps) engine and I have two errors related to the EVAP system.
The error codes i'm getting are: P0444 and P0458.

What i've tried is:
-Clearing the codes multiple times but they keep coming at random moments (sometimes after a few days or after an hour).
-Replacing fuse S18 located in the enginebay but i'm still getting the error codes.

Does anyone know what may be causing it? Or could it be I replaced the wrong fuse or need to replace more fuses?

Some problems that (may be) related to these two errors:

- When in a cold start the car revs to around 2000 rpm for a split second and then going back to around 1000 rpm. This only happens on a cold start or once a day.
- My start-stop system works sometimes but it gives an error on the multifunction display and then it does not kick in anymore.

I hope someone can help me!

P0444 --> http://www.gerritspeek.nl/vag-com_dtc-16828.html
P0458 --> http://www.gerritspeek.nl/vag-com_dtc-16842.html

It would be worthwhile to find the N80 valve and either clean or replace it. I don't know where it is located though.

Does anyone happen to know where the N80 is located?

Follow both rubber/plastic pipes from where they appear out/up near the brake servo, one is the the fuel low pressure supply to the high pressure fuel pump and the other is the EVAP going directly to the solenoid, the solenoid is clipped onto the front of the cam belt cover by one of its pipe stubs.

Edit:- to make life easier, if your car has a hard ribbed plastic pipe, then just follow that one to the front of the cam belt cover.

Could this be the N80? I'm not sure.. and if it is it looks replaced with a Valeo one and not an OEM one?

Yes that is it, if you are now going to buy a genuine VW Group one, maybe consider buying the later version of that plastic ribbed pipe that causes all these “peep peeeeep peeeping” noises under certain conditions?

What makes you think that that is not the original EVAP solenoid valve, Valeo might be an OEM supplier for that part?

Yes, my wife’s 2015 has the same Valeo solenoid, sorry I got the exact location wrong though!

So, it looks like the original EVAP valve has failed.

Because of your comment I bought a new EVAP valve (n80) ( part number: 06D 133 517 B for people having the same problem). This part is not really easy to get

When I get the part I will replace it with the old one and hope the problem won't occur anymore.

Maybe try to remember to check the part number of the original EVAP valve as maybe VW Group has revised that part.

Also, but not always, when a part is "not easy to get" it is due to an unexpected high demand due to failure, maybe I should think about ordering one in?

A garage said it was a known problem for most Polo's, I've bought the Valeo because the OEM VW (part number 06E906517A) has a different layout for the connector etc.

That is weird, why would they change the orientation of the connector, maybe to make it easier to fit.

I've tried searching for that part, the first part number, on VW Group cloned parts listings and can't find it, also I can't locate that EVAP valve on any parts listings, not even on the current Golf 1.4TSI which also uses it.

I am guessing that one of these is the original one fitted to your car and that the other one has been designed to fit another car. In the Polo with the 1.2TSI engine, this valve, as you have/will find, is only attached to the car by a moulded plastic clip that grips the pipe connection, maybe on some other cars it gets mounted on a mounting clip then fitted to a part of the engine assembly?

I am just trying to work out why you quoted two different part numbers that is all.

I think that I've answered my own question now:- the 06D 133 517 B variant is normally made by Valeo and for most applications gets fitted with a rubber mounting sleeve to allow it to be clipped to a part of the engine area the 06E 906 517 A variant is normally made by Bosch and has the mounting device moulded into the body of the valve, so no extra parts needed. For use in the 1.2TSI 16V Polo engine, the valve does not need or want a securing clip as that part is a integral part of maybe the inlet manifold or manifold heat exchanger.

The bosch variant was the one I found first because I used sites to get the product number of the valve and every site has the bosch valve mentioned for the 1.2 tsi engine. That is why I also thought the Valeo one was not OEM because it seems like VAG only uses the bosch one according to those sites.

I've now managed to read the part number on the factory fitted EVAP valve on my wife's late July build 5 door Polo 1.2TSI 110PS and it is a Valeo made valve and its part number is 06D 133 517B.
