I dont know if its just me, but when it's pishin down here and I hop in the car, my shoes tend to slip around on the pedals A LOT, sometimes causing my foot to slip off the clutch pedal mid gear change!

What have others done to combat this?

Make sure that you never ever apply any “prettyfying” stuff to them and always wear “Sensible” shoes, ie grumpy old man style?

Might be worth keeping a spare pair of shoes in your car, so you always have a dry pair to change into for driving when your ‘normal’ shoes have wet soles.

Also, how worn are your pedal rubbers? If they’re very smooth, shiny and worn, it might be worth fitting new rubbers. You could also try roughing up the surface on the pedals by rubbing with some coarse abrasive sandpaper or similar abrasive paper to make them less smooth.

I've noticed this a few times. If I'm honest it's as much down to the shoes you are wearing as the pedal rubbers. It's much worse with new shoes, once they have a little wear on the soles they tend to be OK. In the past, I've even scuffed my feet on the ground to put a little wear on the soles.

Plus as above, never using any type of interior dressing on the pedals or rubber mats. It makes it 200% worse...

the only time i get this is after filling up with petrol.

changed my mind too many times and the messed it up lol

hmm, i wear flat DC shoes ... not the gripiest of shoes ha!

The pedals are quite smooth, so might try finding some replacement rubbers for them

Hey RUM4MO, I’m a grumpy old man but my shoes are anything but sensible.

How about a set of boy racer alloy pedal covers with nice abrasive inserts or alternatively attack your pedal rubbers with an abrasive disc.

ha! i was looking at the boy racer pedals! as daft as it might look, if it gives me more grip when pressing the pedals, its something id deal with haha!

Pick up a set of VW/audi foot pedal covers from a mk1 TT or similar. Super cheap on ebay (albeit not genuine, the quality is good)
